CICAPS works to prevent and control the spread of infections in healthcare facilities and the community by developing the capacity and skills of health workers; serving as a regional platform for research; and training and developing a critical mass of professionals with the capacity to protect health through evidence-based infection prevention strategies.

Our mission is to create a safe healthcare environment by building human capacity through evidence-based culturally relevant training, relevant research, and good quality practical interventions.

CICAPS aims to develop a critical mass of professionals to augment the small pool of regional experts with capacity to protect the health of patients and healthcare workers, through culturally relevant, evidence-based disease prevention measures that are in line with international best practices. The Centre also serves as a hub for the training of practitioners who can contribute to improving population health outcomes.

Our vision is a safe healthcare environment for patients, health care workers and visitors safe from infection and resistant microbes in Nigeria, Africa and globally.
